Christopher Columbus demonstrating how to make an egg stand on its end. The five observers look at the cracked egg, upright on the table, in amusement at the evidence of an inventive mind at work. Two other eggs intertwined with two eels lie on a plate in the center of the table. A dog peeps over the edge of the table in the foreground; the cutlery is pushed off to one side.

A broadside that lays out Queen Caroline’s appeal to be rightfully crowned Queen alongside her estranged husband George IV. Despite the withdrawal of the Pains and Penalties Bill following Caroline’s trial in the House of Lords, the King continued to shun his wife, culminating in his refusal to allow her entry into the coronation which took place at Westminster Abbey on July 19th, 1821.

A volume of comical poems and a play, “Blue Beard”, with 22 transformation cards that illustrate the themes with humorous images of characters performing various activities. Several depict barbers and their customers or other people in the act of grooming and taking medicines, which accompany “Van Evert the or Beelzebubs Barber, V. Vanevert the Dutch Buccaneer”. The poem “The Silver Ladle” is illustrated with a card with two women in a kitchen with a tea kettle. “Bill Bolton, the weaver”, a Scottish tale, illustrated with a pen and ink drawing of a funeral procession

A volume with a bound-in journal with original marbled wrappers intact, with additional signatures on which have been mounted prints, newspaper clippings, and transcriptions of poems, compiled by a young woman. The journal records the details of her trip with a friend Miss Kendall, starting from Norwich and traveling to and around Yorkshire in 1794.

On the table is a book on which lay his spectacles; his hat hangs off the back of his chair. On the wall behind them is a picture of the three crosses on Calvary.

His hat and coat hang from a peg on the wall beside the chimney above which is a shelf of books and a picture of a Greek temple. The only other furnishings in the room are a broken chair, a folding bed tilted up against the wall, and a chamber pot.
