From Greater New Haven United Way!

When school is out for the summer, many children in greater New Haven could be missing nutritional meals each day. With the Summer Meals program, children do not have to go hungry this summer! Free meals are available for children 18 and under with no registration, no paperwork and no questions asked. There are 400 sites across Connecticut–find how to get access to these free meals for your family in your neighborhood.

New Haven Reads is the free, one-on-one literacy tutoring program open to any student struggling with reading in grades 1-12.

Each week during the academic year, they provide a highly-structured, research-based program that serves over 300 students from the Greater New Haven area at three New Haven locations.

They match them with trained tutors to work on the student’s literacy needs for at least one hour weekly.

New Haven Reads es el programa gratuito de tutoría de alfabetización individual abierto a cualquier estudiante que tenga dificultades con la lectura en los grados 1-12.

Cada semana durante el año académico, brindan un programa altamente estructurado basado en la investigación que atiende a más de 300 estudiantes del área metropolitana de New Haven en tres ubicaciones de New Haven.

New Haven’s and Hamden’s Free Summer Meals Program has kicked off with more than 70 meal sites at schools, camps, churches, and mobile units throughout New Haven and Hamden offering free nutritious breakfast, lunch, and dinner to anyone 18 and under. The program runs through Aug. 16.

No proof of income or ID is necessary!

In partnership with Beulah Heights, Cathedral of High Praise, CT Foodshare, New Haven Public Schools, Loaves and Fishes, the NICE Center, and Witness to Hunger, United Way of Greater New Haven will be hosting four free food distributions at sites across New Haven to help students experiencing food insecurity on Wednesday, December 28th from 2 PM – 4 PM.
