With the generous winter break Yale gives us, some of you may want to catch-up on the latest tech-reads from the Books 24×7 library. While the service does not have a mobile app for its volumes, you can still access the e-books though your device browser. Here are the steps to do so:
- While off-campus, you will need to connect to the Yale network using the Cisco Connect Anywhere client. More information can be found on this ITS web page depending upon your mobile device platform.
- Go to the Books24x7 login page on your mobile device browser to access Yale’s subscription catalog. You can register for an account if you don’t already have one on the page. Note the subscription does not authenticate using CAS, thus your Yale email address and a unique password will be used for your account.
- Once authenticated, browse topics from “Business and Culture” to “Telecommunications” on the home page. Take the virtual tour if you are new to the service.
- While in a selected title, use the toolbar to help navigate, create notes, find companion web sites, and save titles to your personal book collection.
Despite the antiquated interface, the range of titles is pretty good and kept up-to-date. For additional help using the service on your mobile device, use the Books24x7 eReader Compatibility knowledge base pages. Happy reading!
