With Reading We Progress; Arabic Reader Series for Non-Native Learners

A seven-book series written in MSA targeting improving the reading comprehension. The series targets beginner, intermediate as well as advanced levels. It is designed according to the standards of the American Council for Foreign Language Teaching (ACTFL). Each book includes, in addition to the original text, audio recording, vocabulary, and drills targeting different sub-skills of reading comprehension.

How a Whale and the Moon Helped Me

 

The book is an original short narrative that is designed to be an independent reader. In addition to the text, the book includes a number of activities that target reading comprehension, vocabulary acquisition, and expressive writing. It seamlessly integrate aspects Arabic culture and traditions with those of the modern life style of today’s youth with the purpose of enhancing the learners’ Arabic language while also introducing them to Arab culture and community. The book is intended to help learners whose level rangers from Intermediate High to Advanced Low.

OPI

May of 2015, with 11 other faculty members at Yale, I completed  the necessary training to be a certified OPI tester in Arabic.
