Additional Projects on Childhood: Music and Food Identity

Music Identity: Students identify five songs that they grew up listening to and give a class presentation sharing memories associated with those songs. This may require the students to highlight the lyrics or include video clipping from the songs. After class presentations and discussions, students write a short reflection describing their experience with this activity.

Food Identity: Students will produce a five to seven-minute video segment presenting five foods to which they feel connected, and/or reflect their identity in some way. In this video, the student will share aspects of their biography and connect them to the foods while highlighting stories about each of the foods. They will also prepare a written account of the major aspects of the video. The students will make a class presentation, and participate in a question and answer activity.  Finally, they will write a reflection card.
