Students in an entry level English 114 section 12 have 2 blogs for one course:
- a traditional blog to explore themes of Childhood, Self and Society
- students comment on each others’ posts
- a workshop blog to present their essays for peer review
- using a plugin called CommentPress students can provide paragraph by paragraph feedback
The students have a sense of ownership of the content in both blogs. Writing skills are improved through peer review. The use of class time to pass out papers and collect feedback is reduced and students come to class ready to discuss the papers.
