Scholarships at Yale Closing Soon: Information for Students

There are many merit-based scholarships for Yale students that can help them cope with the financial burden of tuition. These scholarships are generally awarded by private companies or non-profit organizations. Students and potential students of Yale are encouraged to pursue these scholarships to reduce the sum of their Student Shares.

1. AFIO Undergraduate Scholarship

This annual scholarship is awarded by the Association of Former Intelligence Officers (AFIO) to U.S. citizens undertaking a bachelor’s degree or graduate degree at an accredited U.S. college or university. Applicants for undergraduate scholarships must be entering their senior year in Fall 2022. Applicants for graduate scholarships must submit their applications no later than their second year of graduate school.

Scholarship applicants will be evaluated on their character, merit, and academic commitment. In addition, career ambitions, foreign language proficiency, and the relevance of their field of study to national security interests will be taken into consideration.

The AFIO views education as a means to cultivate capable citizens with an interest in the important role of intelligence in policy, diplomacy, national security, strategy, and defense.

2. PrestigeLinks Digital Marketing Scholarship

This annual scholarship is awarded by PrestigeLinks, a digital marketing company based in Colorado. It aims to support gender and racial diversity in the digital marketing field by promoting innovative and novel marketing ideas and channels outside the mainstream. Applicants are required to write a short essay (1000 words) describing the rise of TikTok in America.

The scholarship was launched this year and will be awarded annually.

  • Number of Awards: 1 (plus runners up)

3. Facebook Journalism Project Scholarship

This annual scholarship is awarded by NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists to U.S. citizens or permanent residents enrolled in an associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or graduate degree course for Fall 2022 at an accredited U.S. university. Applications must submit a minimum of three work samples and a personal statement demonstrating their commitment to NLGJA’s mission.

This scholarship is a partnership between NLGJA and the Facebook Journalism Project. It aims to strengthen and connect communities through the support of quality journalism. Applicants need not be a member of the LGBTQ community.

  • Number of Awards: 5

4. Alpha Delta Gamma Foundation Scholarship

This annual scholarship is awarded by the Alpha Delta Gamma Foundation (ADGF) to students undertaking a bachelor’s degree or graduate degree. To qualify for the scholarship, an applicant must be a member of the ADGF. Selection criteria are based on the applicant’s qualifications and fulfillment of the application.

The history of ADGF scholarships spans over 30 years. It aims to support and promote the well-rounded development and education of fraternity members and produce positive members of society.

5. Burress Injury Law Underdog Scholarship

This bi-annual scholarship is awarded by Burress Injury Law to U.S. citizens enrolled in an associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or graduate degree course for Fall 2022 at an accredited U.S. college or university. Applications must submit an essay that demonstrates their passion for persevering against adversity in their life and career.

Burress Injury Law is committed to helping people who have suffered or lost loved ones due to the negligent actions of others. They hope to empower scholarship awardees to help others with their life experiences.

  • Scholarship Sum: $5,000, Number of Awards: 1
  • Scholarship Sum: $2,500, Number of Awards: 2
  • Deadline: June 15

6. Newland & Newland Single Parent Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded by Newland & Newland, LLP each semester to U.S. citizens or permanent residents enrolled in a law degree or paralegal program for Fall 2022 at an accredited U.S. college or university. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and submit an essay on their career goals and how being a single parent or the child of a single parent has influenced their education and career goals.

By offering this scholarship, the law office of Newland & Newland aspires to help single parents and their children to pursue higher education and achieve success despite their challenges.
