A detailed catalog with descriptions of trees, beginning with “Extract of the several classes of plants from the British Herbal” with references to the Linnaean name and relevant quotations from classical authors, mostly Virgil, Ovid, Pliny, and Horace with occasional references to Spencer. The text lists the genus and species of common trees and bushes with notes in response to the author’s reading of John Evelyn and Philp Miller. At the end of the manuscript is a 12-page “Catalogue of fruit trees in Lewknor Garden 1785”.
