  1. It is fascinating to me that an artist spent so much time and detail on the ornate necklace piece which in the grand scheme of the painting must be pretty small. When there are small details like that it enables fantastic classroom discussion, when students move past the basic story I can get them to add more by asking about the jewelry or clothing or hair and speculate about what it tells us about the characters.
