Photography forms an important part of our research because it allows us to document the rapid changes in Vietnam’s transition to what many Vietnamese themselves call “urban civilization.” We hope the photographic record of spatial changes in Ho Chi Minh City will contribute to a lasting record of the epochal transformations currently reshaping the city.
Our photos are divided into four main themes: daily life at each site, the built landscape, the planners’ perspective of a modern urban city and informal space in terms of how people use the space in unplanned ways.
