Russian Heritage Learners’ Goals and Motivation  (Handbook of Research and Practice in Heritage Language Education, Springer, 2017) 

This article focuses on the specifics of heritage language learners’ motivation and learning goals and compares it with the motivation of traditional L2 learners. It also contains curriculum design recommendations for heritage language learners in light of their motivational orientation and long-term language goals.

Using Blogs in a Heritage Russian Classroom (Russian Language Journal, 2017)

This small scale case research study focuses on the benefits of blogging for the Russian heritage language (HL) learners and describes the process of integrating a blog component in a Russian for Heritage Learners course in a private US university. Discussion and analysis of select examples from the students’ blog posts follow.

Creating an Online Assessment Test for Heritage Learners of Russian  (Heritage Language Journal, 9(2) Summer, 2012)

This paper examines the differences between second-language learners and heritage learners of Russian in terms of their linguistic performance, a finding supported by current research (Andrews, 2001; Kagan & Dillon, 2001/2003), examines the implications of these differences for the creation of testing tools, and offers a sample of a test designed for the author’s Russian for Heritage Learners course.
