About
Bridges ESL (English as a Second Language) is a non-profit volunteer organization sponsored by Yale University’s Dwight Hall and Asian American Cultural Center that provides free small-group English tutoring to immigrants and internationals in the New Haven community. The program offers several levels of instruction depending on each student’s needs. The levels are Survival, Beginner, Intermediate Low, Intermediate High, and Advanced.
Mission Statement
Bridges ESL provides free English language lessons to adult learners in the Greater New Haven area. Tutors develop personalized lessons to help meet students’ language goals related to employment, education, citizenship, and daily life. Bridges ESL helps people acquire the English skills necessary to confidently navigate family, work, and community life in the U.S.
How to register?
Classes for the spring 2023 semester will be held on weekly Saturday mornings from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM starting on February 4th. Student and tutor registration for Bridges ESL classes takes place each September and January. Become a volunteer today!
