Nicholas Sambanis
Yale University
Nicholas Sambanis is the founder and faculty director of the Yale Identity and Conflict Lab, and Kalsi Family Professor of Political Science at Yale University. He is an expert on civil wars and ethnic conflict in the fields of international relations and comparative politics. His articles have been published in Science, American Political Science Review, International Organization, World Politics, and the Journal of Conflict Resolution, as well as other peer-reviewed journals. Currently, Sambanis is working on projects related to the causes and management of inter-group conflict with a focus of developing new theories of conflict resolution. This effort consists of applying insights from international relations theory and social psychology to study processes of identity formation and change and the significance of identity politics for conflict outcomes.
