*Other reasonable transportation-related costs to/from New Haven will be reimbursed with a receipt and necessary documents. Please note that reimbursements may take up to a few weeks after the conference.

 

*If you have already made flight arrangements through Yukiko Tonoike, you will be receiving information on airport transportation soon.

 

*Please note that the following meals are provided for the participants: Friday dinner; Saturday breakfast, lunch, dinner; Sunday breakfast, lunch. 

 

Important information about reimbursement

* If you are a US citizen or permanent resident please submit the following to Yukiko Tonoike:
– a copy of your receipt
– signed and filled out copy of a W-9 form available at https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw9.pdf
 
If you are not a US citizen or permanent resident, please submit the following:
– a copy of W8BEN available at  https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/form-w-8ben-certificate-of-foreign-status-of-beneficial-owner-for-united-states-tax-withholding
– a copy of your passport page (with photo)
– a copy of your visa page
– a copy of your US entrance stamp
– a copy of your I94 available from the following website https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/recent-search
– a copy of your receipt
– fill out and sign the following Yale IIF form https://your.yale.edu/sites/default/files/iif_0.pdf

 

Conference Venue:

Department of Anthropology, 10 Sachem Street, New Haven CT

The venue and hotel are approximately 20 minutes by walking. If you prefer, you can use the Yale University Shuttle system. The weekday, weekend, and nighttime shuttle routes and schedules are all different. Please go to their website for details.

Parking near 10 Sachem Street

For participants who are driving to, but not staying in New Haven, here are some options for parking near 10 Sachem Street. 

On street, metered parking is available in front of the Anthropology Department(10 Sachem Street) and around campus including Hillhouse Avenue, Prospect Street, and Trumbull Street.
Prospect Street has 12 hour metered parking spots North of Sachem Street. Hillhouse and Sachem Streets (West of Hillhouse) have 5 hours spots. For those of you parking in the meters, please remember that for travel reimbursements receipts are required.
Here are the few suggestions:
*Hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday for all locations available for Yale Visitor Parking options. At all other hours, spaces are free on a first-come, first-served basis.
 
1. Trumbull Street – between Temple and Hillhouse $2/hour

2. Lot 19: Ingall’s Rink:

Access on right from Mansfield Street, North of Sachem Street
3. 100 Church Street South
$2/hour
4. Temple Street Garages, Temple & Crown Streets

Parking options near the hotel

Option 1: Temple Medical Garage, 230 George Street, New Haven, CT 06510
Location:  Directly across the street from the hotel.
Instruction: The guests must first check in at the hotel to have access to this parking lot. The rate is $22 plus tax per night. (350+ capacity)

Option 2: Temple Street Garage, 1 Temple St, New Haven, CT 06510
Location: A block down from the hotel.
Rate: Daily rate of $16 (1000+ capacity)

Option 3: Street Parking in New Haven
All meters in New Haven accept U.S. coins as payment, as well as Parkmobile. Many of the meters throughout the downtown area accept Visa, Mastercard and Discover credit cards. The meters are in effect until 9:00 PM Monday through Saturday (excluding holidays). After 5:00 PM, there are no time limits associated with any meter, although there may be overnight parking bans. Please check each meter and street signs for time and rate. If you are planning to be reimbursed for parking, please consider that you will need a receipt for reimbursements.
