COURSES

One of the great joys of teaching is being able to craft one’s own teaching material, which allows for flexibility  both in content and implementation. The tension that stems from tapping into students’ interests and exposing them to something entirely new is energizing and keeps me on my toes. I look forward to seeing how a group of students will react, and have learned that what works at 9:25 a.m. might not work at all at 10:30. Although I teach a range of Spanish language courses, from elementary to advanced grammar, I am responsible for only two syllabi: Spanish for Heritage Speakers I and II.  For both I use a format that allows me to establish goals and clarify course objectives while maintaining a potentially flexible schedule. I have included a small sample of  activities of the work that I have prepared for the various levels I have taught. I am happy to provide additional material.
