Replace this space-holder image with a picture of yourself. On the right side, add your name, your degree program and anticipated year of graduation, your denomination (if such things matter to you), your hometown, and your current contact info.
Welcome to your Master of Divinity portfolio. You will use this restricted access space to showcase some of the work you do and to post some personal reflections about that work, your faith, and your sense of vocation. In addition to a few YDS administrators and your faculty advisor, the only people with access to these pages will be chosen by you. Part of the M.Div. program at YDS includes identifying several mentors with whom you’d like to be in conversation during your time here. At your direction, those people will also have the chance to read what you post. For now, please personalize this page by adding a photo. A close up of your face is best so that your readers (including your advisor) can immediately recognize you. Now delete this long paragraph, and respond to the questions below with a short narrative about what has brought you to YDS and what you hope to discover while you are here. That’s it for starters. Don’t post any academic work, goals, videos or a resume just yet. Your next portfolio work will take place in December, after you’ve completed your first semester of study!
Write a brief personal narrative introducing yourself to your advisor and others who will see this.
- Where have you come from, before New Haven?
- Have you been part of church or faith communities? Briefly describe that relationship.
- Are you ordained? Do you seek ordination? Describe that process, as you understand it.
- Who is guiding you/helping you in that process, if anyone?
- What in addition to your studies have you done that has caused you to come to YDS? This might be about work, or family, faith community or solo journey.
- Recognizing that you might not have clarity about this yet, what is your best sense of your purpose for being at YDS?
- What are you particularly interested at this moment?
- How do you expect the Master of Divinity degree program to help you reach your personal, professional or ministry goals?
- What are your hopes and expectations for your first year at YDS?
