Politics and History

One of the most enjoyable aspects of Yale is its interdisciplinarity, and I have been an active participant in the Center for Historical Enquiry in the Social Sciences here, which brings together people from across different departments and schools who use historical data to answer the puzzles in which they are interested.

I’ve also, with colleagues at Columbia, NYU, Harvard and Princeton, been active in the graduate student Politics and History conference, held each spring. This gives faculty and students in political science who work on projects that use historical data the chance to present their work and get to know people with similar interests. The First Conference was held here at Yale in May 2014, and the second at Harvard in 2015. The conference will be held at one of the other partner schools in 2016.
