I aim to understand the syntax of natural language and the adjacent areas of morphology and semantics. Syntax’s interfaces are critical to this understanding, and bidirectionally so; my work examines both what syntax reveals about morphology and semantics, and what morphology and semantics reveal about syntax. The specific phenomena I am interested in include agreement, negation, case, quantification, clausal embedding, and possible worlds.

I am also interested in morphosyntactic and semantic variation, both for its own sake and for what it tells us about morphosyntax and semantics generally. I have investigated it in English and Basque.
