SAS Board 2016-2017
Kanan is a junior majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology. She is also interested in public health and genetics. In her freetime, Kanan loves to travel, try new food in New Haven, and read.
Rohan Naik (ES ’18)- Co-President
Rohan is a junior in Ezra Stiles double majoring in History and Ethnicity, Race and Migration and is in the Human Rights Program. He is particularly interested in urban studies and racial politics. In addition to SAS, Rohan is involved with FOOT, Yale Outdoors and the Asian American Cultural Center. He is super excited about the year ahead!
Ipsitaa Khullar (SM ’19)- Co-Cultural Chair
Ipsitaa Khullar is a sophomore in Silliman, double majoring in Economics and Psychology. She loves her work as Co-Cultural Chair of SAS because it involves organizing some of the most exciting events on campus. If you have any questions about getting involved in them, feel free to contact her! Outside of SAS, Ipsitaa is involved with The Yale Kalaa and Yale Hindi Debate Association as their Co-President, Yale Startup Consulting Group, Opera Theatre Yale college, does Psychology research with 2 professors and works as a Silliman College Aide and at the OISS.
Rahim Haliminski (BC ’19)- Co-Cultural Chair
Diksha Brahmbhatt (BK ’18)- Co-Political Chair
Diksha Brahmbhatt is an Anthropology major living a double life as a pre-med student. As the political chair of SAS, she has been involved in the planning of election discussions, an identity retreat and the South Asian Millennials Conference hosted at Yale on February 4th, 2017. Outside of SAS, she is an active member of the Yale College Council and the Dean’s Office Civic Leadership Initiative. Her love for the outdoors and the Yale community make leading first-year students on backpacking trips through FOOT a blast!
Archie Rajagopalan (BC ’19)- Publicity Chair
Archie is a current sophomore in Branford and an MCDB major/pre-med. On campus, she is co-captain of her dance team Rangeela, the Social Media Coordinator for the Yale Science Magazine, a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority, and works as a Student Organization Consultant in the Dean’s Office. This is her second year on SAS Board, and she can’t wait to see what spring term has to offer!
Harman Singh (TD ’19)- Treasurer
Hey, I’m Harman. I’m a man of few words, but I like playing basketball, eating Indian food, and going on long walks (especially on the beach). Outside of academics, I am a full time dancer on Yale Jashan Bhangra, Treasurer for the South Asian Society, Risk Manager for Sigma Chi, and continue to remotely run a youth empowerment program that I found back at home called ROOP NY. Mahima (DC ’20)- Freshman Liaison
Mahima is from State College, Pennsylvania. She is interested in environmental science and education, and loves singing, playing the piano, and anything to do with nature. At Yale, Mahima is a member of the Glee Club and mentors high school students through ReadySetLaunch.
Supriya Kohli is from Edmond, Oklahoma. She loves playing the piano and reading. She is interested in computer science and biology, and aspires to become a surgeon. At Yale, Supriya is also a member of the Circle of Women and is known for befriending all of the dogs seen on Old Campus.
Sneha Mittal is a prospective MCDB major on the pre-med track. She comes from Memphis, TN, and loves sushi, chocolate, and cheese!
Neha is from Maple Grove, Minnesota. She is interested in biology, cognitive science, and environmental science. On campus, Neha is a member of Mixed Company and the Yale University Science Olympiad board. She is looking forward to the new year and trying out the best places to eat in New Haven!
Neeraj Patel- Freshman Liaison
Neeraj is a freshman in Calhoun College. He was born and raised in Lake Worth, Florida and really likes warm weather. He also enjoys playing basketball and football in his free time. Neeraj is trying to learn how to play the bass guitar but is not very good at it.

Akarsh Sharma (ES ’17)- President
Akarsh is the baddest DJ K@$h you’ll ever meet. When he’s not waddling around his neurobiology lab and psychology classes, Akarsh can be found dancing Bhangra and trying lots of new food around the Have (though Sitar is his fave). He loves watching Modern Fam.
Siddhi Surana (ES ’17)- Vice President
Siddhi is studying Economics and Political Science. In her free time, she enjoys photography and is trying to reach her goal of visiting 30 countries by the time she is 25. If you’re curious, she has tallied 12 countries so far!
Priyanka Krishnamurthi (ES ’18)- Secretary
Priyanka is a Computer Science/Math major who spends most of her time in the Zoo. She loves to dance and is currently on Yale Jashan Bhangra and Yale MonstRAASity. If she’s not doing a problem set, and she’s not at dance practice, she is probably watching Netflix.
Mrinal Kumar (SM ’18)- Treasurer
Mrinal is a bum who never sent us his picture or bio, so we took some creative liberties. Fun fact, he’s on Yale’s cricket team!
Kanan Shah (DC ’18)- Cultural Chair
Kanan is a vicious little puppy with a passion for global health and a hatred for physics. She has a nice little London Thumakda and loves to boogie with Rangeela, teach about mental health in New Haven schools, and help plan lots of events for SAS!
Shreni is studying Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology, but she’s most interested in the cellular part. Her sense of fashion rivals everyone else on Board, and she’s the captain of Yale MonstRAASity (you should totally join)!
Naoka Gunawardena (TC ’18)- Publicity Chair
Naoka is a total sweetheart and a magician with Photoshop and poster designs. A mechanical engineering major, she is the Business Manager of Yale’s premier South Asian a capella group, Sur-et-Veritaal!
Rohan is an Indian-American from Houston, Texas. When not eating Tex-Mex, he writes for the Yale Daily News and works as a CCE and a FOOT leader.
Ipsitaa is a prospective Economics and Psychology double major and loves listening to and singing opera songs, dancing to Bollywood tunes, and laughing incessantly at her own stupid jokes. Hit her up if you’re a freshman or pre-frosh wanting to get involved with SAS events!
Archie is a fun-loving Snapchat fanatic with her very own coined “Archie-face.” She is a collector of what she calls, “fun mugs,” in which she drinks several cups of chai daily. In the future, Archie wants to be a doctor, but more importantly, she wants to own several corgis with which she can snuggle.
