Postdoctoral Position in Evolution and Climate Change at Yale University

A Postdoctoral Associate position is available at Yale University to support a project jointly overseen by Prof. Martha Muñoz (http://www.marthamunoz.com/) and Prof. David Skelly (https://campuspress.yale.edu/skellylab/).  The position will be based out of the Skelly Lab and the appointment will be made through the Yale School of the Environment (https://environment.yale.edu/).

The project is broadly aimed at understanding mechanisms of persistence by species responding to changing climate including whether species undergo rapid local adaptation and/or whether they use behavioral or other mechanisms to buffer the effects of climate variation.  The primary goals for the postdoc include (1) developing new and using existing genomic resources to characterize and evaluate patterns of genetic change associated with climate variation and (2) supporting the conduct of observations and experimentation to estimate relevant trait variation in focal species (frogs and lizards).  The person appointed to the position will benefit from existing long-term data on demographics and trait evaluation across broad spatial landscapes as well as a recently completed genome for one of the key study species (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/biosample/SAMN32099673/).  The successful candidate will work closely with Skelly, Muñoz, and other project team members to develop strategies and carry out activities to reach project research goals and develop those results into publications.

The appointment is for two years. Compensation is $65,000 annual salary plus benefits. The position is based in New Haven, CT and will include time spent in the field in northeastern, CT and potentially at international field sites. We will fill the position as soon as possible and no later than the end of 2024.

A Ph.D. is required.  Competitive applicants will have demonstrated excellence in relevant research (genetics, genomics, evolutionary biology) as well as written communication, data management and analysis.

Please send a cover letter highlighting your fit and qualifications for the role as well as the names and contact information for 3 references and a CV to skellylabyale@gmail.com

Review of applications will be on a rolling basis.
