Sathish Ramakrishnan, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of Pathology at Yale University. He initially trained in Engineering at Anna University, Chennai, India and Physics at the University of Cambridge and École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay, France. He obtained his Ph.D. in Physics at University Montpellier, France, where he worked with Csilla Gergely on developing photonic structures for ultrasensitive sensors. He joined in the laboratory of James Rothman at Yale University as a postdoc. He developed the cell membrane mimic technologies to reconstruct the exocytosis process using bottom-up approach. Since he started his own laboratory in 2021, he is combining engineering and single-molecule imaging approaches to uncover the mechanisms of exocytosis and how it is altered in age related disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and diabetes.
