Introduction to Epistemology (April 2018)

I taught for Yale Splash on 7 April 2018.  This is a fantastic outreach program that brings free enrichment courses to Connecticut-area high school students.

Here are the notes for the class: click here for the class notes

Here is the textbook that I recommended to students.  It’s apparently $44 through OUP, but you can find it cheaper by buying it used or renting it as an eBook.  If you are near an academic library, you will also be able to find it there.

It’s not as good as the Goldman & McGrath textbook, but here’s the free Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy article on epistemology.  Note that the SEP is really a resource for professional philosophers, so it’s not always the most accessible starting point.

Here’s a link to a Theory of Knowledge course on MITOpenCourseware.  Here’s a link to epistemology course at KU Leuven (a prestigious Belgium University).  Just from a quick glance, it looks like the KU Leuven course is a good place to start.  It has a bunch of videos on it too.

If you’re interested in finding out more about other branches of philosophy, check out my book and resource recommendations here.

Shameless self-promotion!  Like my style of teaching philosophy?  I’m teaching an introductory ethics course this summer at Yale.  Since it’s the Yale summer session, and not regular Yale term time, anyone can enroll.  It’s a college level course, but it is also suitable for advanced high school students.  More information here.
