About Us

Founded in 2011, Lux Improvitas is Yale’s improvisational theatre troupe. We improvise plays. That means that, instead of seeing scenes, you’ll see a whole story. Typically, a Lux show consists of two improvised plays. Each play follows one narrative from beginning to middle to end as we watch the characters relate, grow, and change. Sometimes a set will be about 30 minutes in length, but other times it might even be an hour, as we’ve experimented with during the 2018-19 school year.

Sometimes our shows are themed, sometimes not. In the past, we’ve improvised in the style of Victorian novels, southern family dramas, Hogwarts stories, Avatar: The Last Airbender episodes, and more. Stay tuned!
