Hello new friends! My name is Nakia and my unofficial major is “Cognitive Science” for now. I try to immerse myself in all that is beautiful, so I especially enjoy music, art, and all other forms of creativity. Sometimes I make my own small pieces of art, but it is more likely you will find me singing since I studied music for a while in high school. My favorite genres are jazz, rhythm & blues (R&B), and soul music. Lately, however, I have been listening to more music in Spanish to assist with my learning. Being understood is such a rewarding feeling; I want to improve my Spanish so that when I’m back home in Miami—and my friends’ abuelos and other kind strangers talk to me in their native language—I can make them feel understood. I can’t wait to speak with you and learn together!
