Two manuscripts, in a different hands. The first is an account dated 26 April 1769 and again on 14 July 1769 written and signed by John Hoskyns that documents the farm work that he performed for Mr. Thomas Cuming in exchange for rent and the use of a cow; also signed twice by Mr. T. Cumings and once by Joan Cumings. The second document is an inventory of Thomas Cuming’s “goods and chattels” after his death, taken by Oliver Nosworthy and Nicholas Buckingham of Moreton, Hampstead, listing the values of his livestock and household goods.

Tathem and Baily

An inventory of the household furniture, fixtures and effects, the property of His Royal Highness the Duke of Kent, as taken at the Lodge Castle Hill, near Ealing, Middlesex, [ca. 1818] / by Mr. Sheridan, clerk to Messrs. Tatham and Baily on behalf of H.R. Highness’s trustees and subsequently valued by Mr. James Denew.

LWL Mss Vol. 180

Manuscript in a single hand with a room-by-room inventory of the contents of Castle Hill Lodge which was owned by Edward Augustus, Duke of Kent. The inventory was taken presumably shortly after his marriage, and the contents listed reflect the high Regency taste of the owner. The Duke had purchased the Lodge in 1801 from his sister-in-law Mrs. FitzHerbert and had spent thousands of pounds for improvements commissioned from James (?) Wyatt. In addition to the detailed listing of the Duke’s private rooms and the formal rooms, the inventory includes servants’ quarters, outhouses, barracks, and concludes with an inventory “of sundry articles not comprised in the foregoing inventory.”
