Kasama means partner or companion in Tagalog, the language of the Philippines. Since its inception in 1989, Kasama: The Filipino Club at Yale has striven to represent the interests of Filipino and Filipino-American students at Yale on social, political, and cultural levels, all while forming strong, familial-like friendships.
Engaging in Filipino culture, Kasama strives to further awareness of Filipino culture, history, and heritage.
Kasama is about unity and friendship. It was founded as a group to promote friendship, unity, dialogue and finding a sense of belonging at Yale. The Filipino Club at Yale continues to help Yalies learn about and embrace Filipino and Filipino American cultures in the process of growing life-long relationships.
