From the surveys with AGYW, was knowledge the major barrier to PrEP initiation?
Did you assess for stigma or access?
Thanks for the questions Sheela! I do not think that PrEP was widely available in clinics at the time of the initial Girl Champ events, but it has since been rolled out, and we are looking at uptake. The surveys with AGYW described in the poster were mostly focused on their evaluation of the clinic events. Barriers to AGYW demand for/use of sexual health services (findings that contributed to the development of Girl Champ) are described in a previous poster and were recently published in the journal SAHARA-J (if you follow the QR code on the poster, it should take you to a link for more info). Thanks again!
Thanks for the information. Young women and girls deserve attention as today they are the ones that are most targeted by marketing but also are most bullied for the way they look and behave.
In order to empower girls and women everywhere, we have to start with ourselves, love ourselves, and accept ourselves as we are while developing a positive body image.
