Meet-the-Consultant: Pediatric Sub-Specialties featuring Pediatric Cardiology and Pediatric Pulmonology!

The Education Council of YRFS in collaboration with Pediatric Fellows Advisory Board are bringing Meet-the-Consultants (MTC) series featuring Pediatric Subspecialties to the pediatric residents, with focus on personal career path to fellowship, helpful insights into preferred consult structures, clinical pearls about that particular service and expertise. These sessions will serve as a platform and opportunity for the pediatric residents to meet our wonderful Pediatric fellows. Our first session for August will be featuring Pediatric Cardiology and Pediatric Pulmonology!

Welcome to a New Academic Year of 2019-2020!

Hello Everyone,

We are happy to announce YRFS Education Council Chairs for this academic year: Kei Wong (Pediatric Emergency Medicine, who is continuing into year 2 as Senior Chair) along with Jakob Park (Internal Medicine). The Education council will look forward to additional leadership opportunity in the next couple months during which time we will be reviewing applications to elect another chair position!

We are kicking off the new academic year with our continual collaboration with YNHH Clinical Redesign Team along with Internal Medicine Residency Program and Hospitalists Service to bring Meet-the-Consultant lecture series during noon conference!

Come join us on August 27th, 2019 from 12pm-1pm at Fitkin Auditorium for Meet-the-Consultants session featuring Diagnostic Radiology. More information to come!

Sincerely,
The Education Council

Meet the Consultants: Neurology!

Pearls, video, slides from MTC:Ortho

Thanks to everyone who came out!

Key pearls: always get XR (even if already have MRI/CT), ESR/CRP (procalcitonin not yet well studied in ortho literature)

Also learned that meniscal tears very common with osteoarthritis and rotator cuff tears are also common.

Different PGY2 every day of the week, and PGY3 covering nights and weekends. Signout at 7AM and 4:30PM so keep in mind when calling consults.
