Can joined YSL Proteomics in July 2024 as a postgraduate research associate and is excited to explore the proteomics universe.
He aims to excel in genomics and proteomics, fields with immense combined potential, and design novel scientific projects completely. He is especially interested in telomeres and hTERT due to their key roles in both cancer and aging. Cancer and molecular medicine are his broader research interests and areas of expertise.
During his M.Sc. education at Universität Ulm, Can had the opportunity to focus on immuno-oncology and work on detailed research projects independently at different labs. For his M.Sc. thesis project, he analyzed B-cell receptor signaling in chronic lymphocytic leukemia and monoclonal B-cell lymphocytosis patient samples via FACS, comparing autonomous signaling behavior to investigate if a gain-of-function mutation could be a contributing factor to disease progression.
For his B.Sc. thesis, he investigated the correlation of telomere-length regulation and aging to entropy generation in the context of biothermodynamics.
