I usually include¬†audiovisual material¬†in every class. I tend to include a lot of commercials because of their length (from a few seconds to a couple of minutes). I always emphasize to the student that they don’t need to understand everything in order to grasp the meaning. I actually use the videos sometimes because of their visual component (there is either no or very little dialogue). Among the advantages of using this input are the use of authentic material, exposition to a variety of cultures and accents, audiovisual contextualization, shared schemata, humor, etc.
