    Self-Narrative

“Nusajaya is planned as a sustainable city. Inspired by the best the world has to offer, Nusajaya is planned, designed and intended as a new type of city where the social and community areas plus intrinsic needs such as safety and security, transportation, convenience and enriched lifestyle are part and parcel of an integrated master plan. Five years on and Nusajaya is already a benchmark for other cities around the world. The Nusajaya Safety and Security Master Plan is the first in the world to be developed on such a scale and magnitude.

The thrusts of Nusajaya’s development are signature and catalytic developments aligned with the identified sectors and industries in the 10th Malaysia Plan. They are sectors and industries such as Government, tourism and leisure, education, creative, healthcare and wellness, business and industry, commerce and finance as well as property and infrastructure. These signature and catalytic developments are designed to enrich the quality of life and living experience. Developments such as EduCity™ and LEGOLAND® are also identified Entry Point Projects in the Government’s Economic Transformation Plan.

UEM Land and Iskandar Investment are the major forces behind Nusajaya’s remarkable success. These two entities work closely with Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA), local authorities, other developers and local as well as global investment partners with the distinct objective to deliver the singular most ambitious development project the nation has witnessed. Spanning 24,000 acres, Nusajaya is undisputedly the largest urban integrated development in Southeast Asia and is envisioned as the nation’s most modern, connected and livable city.

For Nusajaya, it had been about staying true to its vision. The past few years have seen a marked increase in the number of strategic partners coming on board; the developments launched and completed; and the investors committing to ventures in various key sectors of Nusajaya.”1

    Themes

    A Brighter Future

    • ”The increased affluence of the Malaysian people and Malaysia’s increased potential as a healthcare destination have made private healthcare a national key economic area under the 10th Malaysia plan. Malaysia attracted more than one million foreign patients with total medical receipts of about RM 800 million. Nusajaya is designed to be a leading healthcare destination in the region.”1

    • ”In building a smart city of the future, multi-telcos must play their roles in creating a world-class infrastructure, where everyone and every household is interconnected and ensuring the city is also safe and secure. Most importantly, the care and effort taken to protect the environment will ensure the city’s sustainability. This is key in Nusajaya realising its vision of being a smart and connected city.”1

    Balance, Community, and Harmony

    • ”A Smart+Connected City will enable residents to use modern (ICT) in interacting with each other. Imagine how exciting and easy life could be in Nusajaya. A smart and connected city that brings together out-of-home services into your living room, from ordering pizzas via your TV sets, to having medical consultations with your personal doctor via video link – all done without leaving home.”1

Currently, the AP team comprises more than 30 personnel but this number will be consequently increased to a team strength of 160 AP personnel by 2015. These augmented safety and security efforts will contribute to assure Nusajaya residents of a safe, livable and serene community.1

    Organic

    • ”The Nusajaya Regional Open Space is envisioned as a green area, transcending and going beyond Nusajaya’s boundaries for the experience and enjoyment of generations to come from across the globe.”1

    • ”The project demonstrates a sincere commitment to sustainability. The design calls for a climate-responsive urban form, renewable energy agenda, green building program, and rehabilitated wildlife habitat. Green “fingers” of open space will penetrate developed areas, while wetlands will provide stormwater treatment — an essential consideration for the country’s coastal communities.”2
