► Where do I retrieve and return a course-assigned iPad?

All course-assigned iPads should be checked out and returned to the Bass Library Circulation Desk.  When the device has been prepared, your instructor will inform you of when the iPad can be checked out.  Your name will be cross-checked against the class roster provided by the instructor, and charged out with your Yale ID.  The iPad will need to be returned on the date indicated per the terms of usage document handed out when you retrieve the iPad and posted in Classes*v2 course site.  Please do not return the iPads in the book drop boxes.

► If I drop the class for which I am using an iPad, can I keep it for the remainder of the semester?

Unfortunately, no.  Under the terms of use, iPads from the Bass Library are reserved exclusively for students of selected courses. If you drop the course that is using an iPad class set, the iPad will have to be returned immediately.  If the iPad is not returned by the specified time, a fee of $35 per day will be applied to your library account.  iPads can be checked out for short-term use (3-weeks) from the Bass Media Equipment Checkout Service.

► Will my data be erased when I return the iPad to the Library?

Yes.  All data will be permanently erased and unrecoverable when the iPad is returned.  The Bass Library staff will not be able to recover any personal data once the iPad has been erased, thus it is advisable to save any/all personal content to a cloud-based solution.

► How do I erase all the data on my iPad before returning it?

Apple iPads have a setting to delete all data and reset the device to factory settings by going to Settings > General > Reset > Erase all Content and Settings.  Please note that once the iPad has been reset there is no way to retrieve your data, thus it is recommended to save any important data a cloud-source solution.
