I thought I would post a few new iPad keyboards that have recently hit the scene to append to my growing list found in the left-hand column under links and to my list of former posts. The first keyboard I’ll highlight is called the Touchfire and was passed along to me by Technology Services Specialist, Randi McCray. This accessory is not your typical keyboard, but rather a physical on-screen keyboard, that literally lays across the iPad screen in lieu of the virtual on-screen keyboard. Pretty clever, however, it still eats up precious screen real estate.
For those die-hard Mac fans who want the look and feel of a MacBook Air, perhaps the ClamCase Pro is more appealing. The rugged aluminum case provides not only a full-size keyboard and top cover, but the light-weight case gives the user a sense of “full-size” protection. What’s more, the ClamCase Pro has a 360-degree hing for the top to pivot on allowing users full functionality of the iPad as a pure tablet. One potential drawback to this keyboard case is the price which starts at $169.
Lastly, I’d like to mention a sustainable option. The Solar Keyboard Folio by Logitech charges its battery by use of any light source from its built-in solar panels. Very cool! The case also allows a user to prop it up at different angels and even comes in Coral Pink or Ice Blue for those fashionistas out there.
Dan Frakes from MacWorld updated his iPad keyboard buying guide page last week that offers additional models and reviews.
