Senderos & YUJC Present: Jonathan Suazo

Join us on MARCH 4th at 8pm in SUDLER HALL (100 Wall St.) for this incredible concert brought to you by the Yale Undergraduate Jazz Collective and Despierta Boricua at Yale. This first event of the Puerto Rican cultural series Senderos: Puerto Rico en la Isla y Más Allá, will be a celebration of Puerto Rican Jazz on Yale’s campus.

We are thrilled to welcome the incredible Puerto Rican saxophonist Jonathan Suazo and his group for an unforgettable evening of music. Mr. Suazo is one of the fastest-growing names in contemporary music. His performances are known for their “maturity and depth” and his abilities are “well beyond his years”. Having released 2 powerful, genre-bending albums as a leader, and appearing on more than 9 others as a sideman, Mr. Suazo is one of the most prolific young recording artists to come out of Puerto Rico in recent years. His long list of collaborations includes such renowned musicians as Paoli Mejias, Tony Escapa, Eddie Gomez, William Cepeda, Humberto Ramírez, Luis Aquino, Miguel Zenón, David Sánchez, Charlie Sepulveda, Tito Matos, Terri Lyne Carrington, Ricardo Pons, Calma Carmona, Eric Figueroa, Luis Marín, Ricky Rodriguez, Alex Alvear, Gonzalo Grau, John Secada, and many others. In addition, Suazo and his band, MÓKSHA, have performed at some of the biggest Jazz events in the Caribbean, including the Puerto Rico Heineken Jazz Fest. Mr. Suazo is currently studying at the revolutionary Berklee Global Jazz Institute, under the direction of piano giant Danilo Pérez. With an impressive career well on track, and remarkable musical sensibilities to guide him, Jonathan Suazo is definitely one to watch in the coming years.
