Learn by teaching
Knowing a topic well enough to lecture on it forces one to reach a more advanced level of understanding – a valuable lesson many of us have learned through teaching. So what better way to have someone think like a physicist than to have him/her teach like a physicist?
One approach that I’ve found to be successful is to have students learn and prepare lectures on a particular topic. The student and I meet periodically to help prepare the classes and the student lectures to peers and others who may be interested. I am interested in working with undergraduate and graduate students interested in learning advanced condensed matter topics (e.g. Many-body physics and strong correlations or topological description of electrons in solids). Students interested in a reading course should contact me (eduardo.dasilvaneto@yale.edu).
