In Memoriam: Robert E. Dewar

Bob Dewar walking in the forest at Bezà Mahafaly at the intersection of the trails Pink 2 and Orange West.

The Bezà Mahafaly community mourns the loss of one of its beloved team members. Robert Dewar, noted archaeologist and husband of Alison Richard, died on April 7th, 2013. Bob was a great friend of Bezà Mahafaly, contributing many hours on the ground to data collection as well as helping draw attention to research at Bezà through publications with Alison and colleagues. Bob had a keen knowledge of the local flora and fauna of Bezà that was matched by his love of the great community of people in and around Bezà. The Museum located at the Bezà Mahafaly camp has been dedicated to his name. He will be missed. Richard et al. 2002 Richard et al. 2000 ______________________________________________________________
