Chloe Chen-Kraus

[:en]Chloe 2016Chloe Chen-Kraus has studied how human activity and protected area dynamics in and around Beza Mahafaly are affecting local lemur populations for her PhD work at the Anthropology Department of Yale University. Specifically, she has focused on the Verreaux’s sifaka and comparing measures of their behavior, health, distribution, and demography across areas with differing types and degrees of anthropogenic disturbance. She has defended her work and her hope is that this study will inform more effective management of Beza’s ecosystem, so as to sustain the livelihoods of both the human and wildlife populations that live there.
