Objectives

Yale Amnesty International is among the most active social justice groups on campus. Our objective is to make as much difference as we can in the fight for equal human rights for all. In aiming for our objectives we have done many campaigns and projects in the following areas: Awareness, Education, Advocacy, Fundraising, and Solidarity. Here are some of the activities we undertake:

Awareness

    – Postering
    – Chalking
    – Tabling and petitioning
    – Table tenting (leaflets in dining halls)
    – Social Media: Facebook, online petitions

Education

    – Guest speakers
    – Discussion panels
    – Film screenings and fesitvals
    – Master’s Teas
    – Dinner talks and roundtables
    – Guest columns in the Yale Daily News

Fundraising

    – Food sales
    – Concerts, parties, dances, jams
    – Donation or membership drives

 

Advocacy

    – Petitions
    – Postcards and letters
    – Press conferences and movement participation
    – Lobbying
    – Rallies and marches

 

Solidarity

    – Collaboration with other Amnesty groups
    – Collaboration with other Yale student organizations and campus groups
    – Writing to prisoners of conscience
    – Vigils
